Common Centaury, Centaurea erythraea

A short erect annual with fine star shaped pinkish white flowers, the common centaury is a beautiful flower of dunes, heaths and quarries. This member of the Gentian family flowers between June to October, and has been used in herbal medicine as an appetite stimulant. It popularly used to cure fevers, giving this plant its other common name, Feverwort.
