If you look just to the left of the hull number (100) on this ship, the red, white & blue "something" that you see is part of a HUGE Hawaiian lei, that ships "wear" on their return from a 6-month deployment, wearing it from Hawaii back to the U.S. and then continue to wear for a short period after their arrival back in their home port. It indicates to those that see this ship that they've just returned from a long deployment and are HAPPY to be back home with their loved ones again!
