One morning last week we were admiring our tomato plants when around the corner of the deck came two kittens. They were very hungry so out came the milk and bread, which was immediately gobbled up. We assumed that someone had driven by and dropped off these cute kittens. Unfortunately we couldn't keep them for several reasons, the biggest being that we go south for the winter. We were upset that someone would be so unkind to their unwanted kittens. We asked everyone we talked with to see if they wanted them and to no avail resigned ourselves to an impending trip to the SPCA on Monday. We then thought about our new neighbors, who have four little children-Would they like them? When we visited , no one was home, but there was one kitten obviously kin to our two. How could anyone be so cruel to drop these three kittens off?
We went there the next morning and when we told our story, the children screamed in delight as the kittens belonged to them and they thought a coyote got them. When we brought the kittens to them they were overjoyed. A happy ending for all concerned.
