Ox eyes

Ox Eye daisy, no idea why, it looks nothing like the eye of any ox I have seen. Bit of a dull day to shoot them, I might head back when the Sun comes out to play.

Also today

Excellent shot Kevin, they are growing like mad here. It's great when you can use it to get such fantatstic shots.

They are so lovely, even if they don't look like eyes! Great background too!

Useless piece of info, guaranteed to wow your friends and familly...not!

Hera, queen of the ancient Greek gods, was 'affectionately' called bo-opis, which can be translated as cow-eyed or ox-eyed...and at some point this name was given to this beautiful flower.
However, some scholars argue that the translation of bo-opis should be cow-faced...which would be an even more bizarre name!
Other names? Moon Daisy...Maudlin daisy...Dun Daisy.

Phillips right, but I prefer them in sunshine too.

Overcast is good for flowers, softer less contrasty light - helps you keep all the details :o)
