The transmission mainshaft is the shaft that has ball bearings at the bottom, just to the right of the black plastic oil pump gears. This bearing failed due to the sheet metal ball bearing separator disintegrated, which let all the ball bearings fall to the bottom and gave the mainshaft a huge amount of play.
