Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)

Culross, West Fife

In Scots tradition the song is said to be: "Diel, diel, diel, diel tak ....yeh!" ((The) devil, devil, devil, devil take you!).

The English version is: "a little bit of bread & no cheeeeeese".

Perhaps this reflects the difference between the Scots & English psyche! ;)
