Gharial (India)

Chambal River, Rajasthan, India

This striking fish-eating crocodile is now endangered, although can still readily be found in cruises along the clean Chambal River in Rajasthan, just a short drive from the Taj Mahal. The Chambal River is also a stronghold for a bird, the rare Indian Skimmer, and also holds Gangetic River Dolphin and Mugger Crocodiles (all of which can often be seen during one short boat trip along this large river).
