We were visiting a wildlife viewing area on Northern Vancouver Island and watched the geese grazing in the fields and then taking off to other areas. They were a vocal group and this goose was 'talking' as it flew by. Flocks Canada Geese are often heard giving off a steady chorus of honking. Their calls range from the deep ka-lunk of the medium and large varieties to the high-pitched cackling voices of smaller varieties. Researchers have determined that Canada Geese have about 13 different calls ranging from loud greeting and alarm calls to the low clucks and murmurs of feeding geese.
