20090601-_DSC1400-Edit.jpg

This past weekend was spent in the northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. They were married June 1, 1949 in the Methodist Church of the small town of Follett, Texas. I have many relatives in the area and unfortunately do not visit them as often as I could. One evening I drove out west of town and took image of the grain elevators when the setting sun could light them up. Didn't happen as I wanted but that happens sometimes.
My parents took me to the exact location were dad proposed to my mother. They also showed me a couple of places where we lived when I was first born. This small town has a population of about 400 people. The community is primarily populated with farmers and ranchers. They do work hard and have that laid back mentality. Everyone knows each other, people are friendly and inviting. My sisters and I walked to the drug store for a cherry coke just as we did when we were younger. A pretty inviting life style to me but I wonder how many people could live without their shopping malls or their favorite coffee shop within a 30 minute drive?
