Pacific Dogwood

Sequoia National Park, California

The dogwood are starting to bloom in Sequoia National Park. They are best photographed around this time of the year, when the flowers have emerged but the trees have not completely leafed out. This photograph was made just minutes before the sun set, avoiding any direct sunlight but retaining a yellow glow in the upper left corner.
