Heading north. This is the old CSX line from Marietta Georgia to Etowah Tennessee. CSX rerouted their main line from Marietta to Knoxville TN to get around all the mountains of Georgia and Tennessee. It now runs from Marietta to Cartersville where it splits from the Chattanooga line and heads to Chatsworth GA, Etowah TN and on to Knoxville which bypassed all the small North georgia towns. Only copper travel these tracks for many years. When the copper mines closed (80's) in Copperhill Tennessee this line became a very seldom used track. Now North Georgia Railroad runs the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad tour and moves freight cars when not being used to pull the tourist cars from Blue Ridge Georgia to McCaysville Georgia. These engines move freight cars between Marietta, Canton, Ball Ground, Tate, Jasper, Talking Rock, Ellijay and Blue Ridge. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad runs from Blue Ridge Georgia to Mccaysville Georgia on the last of this line. The Georgia Tennessee state line splits Copperhill and McCaysville. In Copperhill Tennessee (about 50 feet from the BRSR stop you can board another scenic train from Copperhill to Etowah, TN.
