Our Cover (Page 1, Mississippi Belle)

This photo was taken in early July, 2008. I found the Loon family, Mom, Dad and
two young swimming in rough waters near Duff Bay. As I approached, one of the adults
separated from the group as if wanting me to follow it. As I did, I was able to gently
herd it into the still waters of Duff Bay where the low morning sun cast beautiful
dark shadows and a greenish sheen onto the surface of the water.

P.S. The Loons are now back at the lake. I observed the one pair a few times this week in their usual nesting area; however, the water is still relatively high so it may be a week or more before they start to build their nest.
