Navy Morning by Justin Miller

Key West, Florida

This is the U.S. Naval base in Key West, Florida. Our boat that morning was routed over to the base for parking as the island was still picking up sunken boats from around the dock by Mallory Square, hurricane Rita having passed through just 4 or 5 days prior. The Navy boat was already up and running through exercises at 8am, while I was just waking up.

Checked out the original to see if I had cropped it too close...nope - this IS the original, no crop. I think I was shooting fast to catch him before he slipped out.

I'll have to look at the original and see if I had any more room for a different crop. I think I was unfortunately limited by proximity - we were pulling in to the narrow channel right beside him, so I was struggling to get the whole ship in frame. Thanks for the input - if I can alter it, I will try a new crop.

I think I'd have to agree the crop is tight, but it's a fun picture to look at. Good job on sharp focusing - great detail/texture of the water. Looks like the sun just didn't cooperate and stayed hidden behind the clouds.

Interesting morning pic. The sailors must have been awake for three hours already, though...LOL.
I think that the crop is a bit tight, particularly ahead of the vessel's tip.
Curiously enough, I find the sky and cloud formations especially captivating, though this is probably not what my attention is supposed to be focused on.
