Plumbeous Vireo? -- photo 1

Agua Caliente Park, Tucson, AZ

Or Cassin's? Some observers think the hint of color on the underparts supports Cassin's, a common migrant through this area in April. Two experienced California birders were pretty sure this was Plumbeous, which can have a bit of yellow -- too nearly uniform gray for Cassin's. I've tentatively adopted that ID.

Definitely the same bird -- photos taken 13 seconds apart. Just goes to show how variable (and deceptive) photographs can be, especially in dappled light like this!

Hmmm, this definitely seems like a different bird than "photo 2". How about Bell's Vireo? I was seeing and hearing a LOT of Bell's Vireo at the Florida Wash on the approach to Madera Canyon. The spectacles look a little weak for Cassin's Vireo, and I wasn't seeing/hearing any Cassin's. I could easily be wrong on this.

I've got my own mystery bird from Tucson I'm going to post tomorrow! Jim
