We've been watching the Canada Geese during the nesting period and noticed that there are often displays of aggression on the part of the male goose. He can be several metres from the nest but always seems to be watching the nest area and joins the female if he feels the nest is threatened or if the female leaves the nest. During the incubation period the female leaves the nest only briefly each day to feed and drink and bathe. This male seemed to feel that a neighbouring pair were getting a bit too close and went into 'protection mode'.
