Frosty Peak

Cold Bay, AK

Taking a photograph was the nearest I ever came to the summit. A mountain climber I wasn't. During my year in Cold Bay, I learned to develop and print black-and-white photos. I spent hours in the squadron dark room processing film that I had exposed with my SLR. My favorite black-and-white photo, and perhaps my favorite Cold Bay photo of all, is a shot of the peak of Frosty.

Wow~these pictures are beautiful but haunting to me. 44 years ago today, my Dad lost his life in a plane crash carrying supplies to Cold Bay. He was in the GA Air National Guard. We were told his plane hit a mountain & disappeared. I was just searching for information and came across your pictures. Thank you for sharing these pics. The sunrise is beautiful but this mountain picture gives me chills. God Bless You.
