This was one of my early attempts at processing my own film. The radar site was slightly visible from the side of Frosty. The sun reflected from the domes covering the two radar antennas. Situated on the other side of the peninsula from the town, airport, and Frosty, Cold Bay AFS was isolated enough... without this photo from August of 1970 making it look like it was an island in the middle of the ocean. Was I ever glad it wasn’t! With our gravel road, we had access to the town of Cold Bay and the great outdoors where so much of our free time was spent. The abandoned WWII Quonset huts and other buildings of Navy Town and Fort Randall made exploring even more special.
