Bald eagles have few natural enemies. But in general they need an environment of quiet isolation; tall, mature trees; and clean waters. The estuaries along the coastline of Vancouver Island are one of their favourite haunts. This immature eagle was just taking-off as I was passing by and I caught it just before its' feet left the perch.
