What she doesn't realize is that promotion is not necessarily a change in grade or salary, or moving from a cubicle to an office. Reward can come in other forms, such as the frequency with which her services are requested or the role she is asked to assume. Another type of promotion is the exposure to certain battery-powered devices of amusement. What is ironic is that, based on her past performance, she might have been promoted already but will not find out until her next "undercover" assignment. Promotion is practically guaranteed for a duo acting in concert, especially if both members dress similarly (the "implied sibling" factor). Lest you be bored by this rambling, remember that dull theory is counterbalanced by exciting practice.
