Lake Como, Jasper, Mississippi
Lake Como is one of the oldest settlements in the county. The name was derived from an Indian phrase, "Lak Coma", meaning Lacking in Timber. In 1880 the Lake Como Academy was regarded as one of the best schools in this section, drawing students from Georgia, Tennessee and other nearby States.
