Color-less Guard...

I don't know this man.
I think he feels sad.
He was part of the Color Guard at my Uncle's funeral.
He handed my cousin, David, his father's folded flag.
The Color Guard was Ancient.
I thought that if you added their ages together it would come close to one thousand
I wondered about the next generation of Color Guard
Where are they?
The ones that can still stand up straight while they do the 21 gun salute?
The ones that are still physically able to climb a steep hill
and still have enough wind to play Taps after the climb?
Where are they?

My Dad is one of the next generation of Color Guards.. HE can stand up straight shooting in the 21 gun salute.. HE can still climb a steep hill....and HE plays taps after the climb..although it's only a recording on a tape playing trumpet. :-) Often not told or given the credit.. my Dad IS MY HERO! Bless the Veterans of all ages...they will always step up to bat...
