Jackson Ave in the old city, Knoxville, Tennessee. These buildings were built around 1855 when the first railroad was built through Knoxville. It was in this area that a man could join either the Union army or the Confederate army since most of eastern Tennessee didn't have a need for slaves unlike western Tennessee. The downtown area of Knoxville was founded in 1786.
