Yes, Mama and Papa just for the photo. He is the most laid back rat and not at all aggressive towards the babies. When I was young we had mice and one of the males acted as an auntie to the babies. Never aggressive, and never sired any babies either. We always laughed about that as he was the prettier of the 2 boys and we hoped that he would be the little stud mouse...nope!
When I was teaching elementary school my student teacher brought in a cage with a pregnant mouse who had babies over a weekend. The bottom of the cage was an open grid and a couple of the babies fell through and missed feeding, so they remained much smaller than the other babies. These are so cute, and safe I think. Are these Mama and Papa? I'm surprised that there's more than one mature rat (I assume) in the container.
