MEMORIAL TO THE VICTIMS OF COMMUNISM

Prague - Czech Republic

A 20-year old philosophy student, Jan Palach, set fire to himself in Wenceslaus Square on 16th January 1969, protesting against the Soviet invasion in Prague. A bronze cross was embedded at the place where he fell, close to the statue of St. Wenceslas. A few meters below is this small round flowerbed with a low-key memorial to him and the Victims of Communism
