Lantana, FL We departed North Palm Beach for Lantana Via the Intra Coastal Waterway (ICW) that runs through Lake Worth. Our preference is to sail south from Palm Beach out in the Atlantic Ocean to avoid having to open the many bridges that cross the ICW. However, the ocean was in turmoil from the heavy wind we had experienced in the past few days. So we stayed in the ICW. While traveling on the ICW we have to call several bridges via radio to request an opening. Shibumi's mast is too high to pass beneath many of the bridges along the way. Most bridges in this section of Florida will open only on a specific schedule. Such is the case with the Southern Blvd Bridge that runs from West Palm Beach to Palm Beach. It opens only on the hour and half hour.

We waited for the 1:00 PM opening behind a gaggle of about 15 other boats. I thought that was a heck of a lot of traffic for a Monday along this stretch of the waterway. But, I figured these boats were avoiding the raging ocean just like we were. I didn't bother to call the bridge tender because it seemed obvious there was substantial traffic to transit to the other side.	As it turned out all of those boats were waiting to go into a marina for a boatshow. They were not waiting for the birdge to open at all. Needless to say, we missed the opening and had to thread our way through the nautical crowd to catch the opening one half hour later.
We decided to anchor for the night at Lantana, which is a great little town south of Palm Beach. When we got to Lantana we took the dinghy ashore to a very nice restaurant and tiki bar called the Old key Lime House	The food was good and the atmosphere was great.
