Looking Up

Deer Lodge Montana

While waiting for the sun to dip lower toward the horizon, Fred and I killed some time exploring
a tiny park in Deer Lodge Montana. Located inside this tiny, rundown park was a 1909 Sears mail
order kit Carriage House. This image was shot standing in the middle of the carriage house looking up.

This kit carriage house was built in 1906, and in 1908 Sears Roebuck branched out to include its Sears Modern Homes kit houses. Apparently they sold 70-75 thousand kit houses between 1908 and 1940 and were quite successful.
