School House - Granite, OR
The town was established in 1862 and was originally named Independence but when the Post Office came in they said no to the name because there was a town in Polk County that was so named. That town still exists and Granite was the new name chosen because of the rock in the area. The old school house was built in 1888 I believe and then was later used (maybe still is) as the city hall.
