Camp North of Belabo

Cameroon

First night out of Yaounde, we camped by the TransCam railroad right of way. In the morning, the work trucks went up and down the road way.

"We awoke around 0600 after a rather chilly and damp night. What incredible dew and humidity in this part of the world. The sleeping cots are an excellent invention, however, they are exceedingly comfortable. We were on the road by 0800 and had an interesting trip to Ngaoundere. We saw a boar along the road." -- The Expedition Journal of Ms. Denise Pollard

We were traveling with Francis, a French Cooperant from Douala. (The French cooperation program is a bit like a cross between the Peace Corps and USAID.)

Note the jar of "Tang" for breakfast. Also note the Coleman jug. We still travel with it some 30+ years later.
