Kokopo War Museum
This museum began in the early 1980's as a small museum at the so called "Yamamoto Bunker" in Rabaul, and was moved to Kokopo to accommodate the growing collection, and in anticipation of a volcanic eruption.
This museum contains a large collection of WWII artifacts from the Rabaul related to the history of the area, including local art & culture, German colonial period, prewar and WWII Japanese occupation.
This is the War and Cultural Museum, a branch of the National Museum in Port Moresby. It contains an impressive collection of Japanese vehicles, munitions and relics left from the long occupation, and displays the wreckage of aircraft bits collected during new discoveries in the past sixty years.
