The Worst Motel in the World - Colin

This is of my girl friend of the time standing in the doorway of our room the morning after a night in the worst motel I have ever been in, before or since.
We were on a road trip in the US, crossing in the oil producing area of Texas heading south west toward El Paso. It was getting late and there hadn’t been a motel on the less than major road for hours so we decided to stop at the first one we saw.

It was a real dump, the sliding door to the bathroom fell off and because the screen window was torn, a tarantula had got in and taken up residence in the shower. The ice machine was busted, as was the TV and the room a/c just made grinding noises.

Then there was a knock on the door. A young couple staying in a decent room had noticed us foreigners checking in and asked us to join them in their room for Pizza and beer. We had a real blast and made some life time friends, it was one of the best evenings of the trip…

Quite a story. It seems like when my life is about to succumb to hell - that is when something wonderful and glorious happens. You must have seen quite a bit of the world?

Thanks for the sharing.

your gift to us is similar to an experience I had with my family Gardner Montana just outside of Yellowstone national park. the motel front was a false facade and the amenities were the same as yours but the twin bed sagged so badly that we had to grab the bed frame to pull ourselves out of bed LOL now...
the door would not lock and the coyboys partied till 0300
