Dendrobium Orchid

Quail Botanical Gardens

According to Quail Garden volunteers, this orchid is one of the epiphytes, which use trees to grow on. They are not parasites, since they never draw their life from the tree. Instead, these orchids have evolved to get water from rainfall, and nutrients from leaf litter, dead insects, and animal droppings. All of this to produce a flower that adds beauty to any tree. What an ideal guest!
