This was the bird of the trip for Michael Carmody. And likely, the photos that Clyde and I got are the only ones ever of this bird in Mexico.
Michael can find only one other person who is sure they have seen this species in Mexico, and he was unsure of his old sighting until we (actually Clyde) found this one. It wasn't on our list of possibles, so Michael had to tell us what it was, but it was a very distinctive hummer.
The color isn't coming thru because of the conditions, but the throat was a gorgeous blue, really set off from the deep-red of the very deep-based bill.
