My desk was in an office with other radar maintenance supervisory staff. The radar equipment, itself, was classified. Thus, a security clearance was required for admission to the area. Therefore, I took no photographs of the equipment or its surroundings. However, I did photograph the radar maintenance office. Supervision of maintenance of all of the site's radar equipment was conducted from this room. At their respective desks, the individuals in this photo are TSgt Sargent and Staff Sergeant Faulconer.
Each morning I took the stairs next to my room down to the first floor. Then I followed a hallway past the motor pool and overhead doors on the left. The Engineering shop was on the right. At the end of the corridor, I climbed stairs to get to the Radar Maintenance Office. Maintenance of the radar equipment was a 24/7 job, done by a crew of airmen responsible for keeping the equipment operating at peak efficiency. Radar Ops (Operations) was up some more stairs. Ops was where the scopes were watched 24/7 by another crew of dedicated airmen. Our battle station (command post during alert situations) was headquartered in Ops.
