Urban Art???

I am always intrigued by thoughts of where the dividing line between this shot and the next shot in this gallery is in determining what is art and what is vandalism.

I have definitely seen a lot of graffiti that I would call art. Some of it involves incredible talent. I always just walk away hoping that the artist will resolve some of their pent up anger, etc, and start to express their art in a less destructive fashion.

if they don't have permission, they may paint art but it will be unfair..

I would say this isn't art and that it's Vandalism! Did they have permission to adorn or deface the building? No? It's Vandalism! The next shot is art! It looks like it belongs!, it has a purpose, not that that is a criteria for art, but it helps!
I don’t like Urban Art, but once in a while there will be a piece that is fairly good! It usually looks like it belongs and it has a purpose and is on purpose! So there you go! Where is the fine line? Well, when you find a Picasso, Warhol, or a Rembrandt plastered on a wall in the middle of the night - the line will obviously move! I don’t think we have anything to worry about except that they’ll keep doing it!

This, not so much...but a very interesting question - one that is hot debate in Ottawa.
