Of all the countries I've been too, I think I get more questions and just blank stares
when I say Nigeria. I'm gonna tell you what. This was taken in Abeokuto which is in the
general vicinity, or one of the "ring towns", that surround Lagos and if there is anywhere
in the world where you do not want to break down, it is Lagos (OK, Mogadishu may be worse).
Well, we broke down. This is a shot after the engine was fixed and we were pulling away.
Take a look at these people. This shot, more than any I have, encompasses the friendliness
of the Nigerian people towards strangers. One of the last shots I took in Nigeria and one
of the most memorable. You can sit at home and watch CNN, 20/20, Nightline and whatever else,
but until you actually go there, you have no idea what it is really like. Use a little common
sense and just communicate and it is a great place with some fantastic people.
