Abingdon Lock

Abingdon lock was originally built in 1790 by the Thames Navigation Commission, although there
are remains of a lock dating from around 1624, which now acts as a weir. It is thought to be the
oldest surviving lock chamber in the UK, and possibly in Europe.
The current lock was constructed in 1905.
