red house by the tracks

Upstate, New York

I'm a train nut, but this is too close to the mainline for me.
Imagine the noise back in the days of steam!
This is the CSX mainline, formerly the New York Central's four track NY to Chicago.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Nice find... I wonder if they sleep with ear plugs!

The location isn't right but it really looks like a lovely little cottage.

Imagine the dirt too!
Good find.

Love the house, but you are right too close to the track! ...

super find. I would not want to live there when a long freight train rumbles through the night.

Maybe the homeowner thinks of it as having the world's largest model railroad? :-)

I've heard that towns near the tracks get used to the sound. Noise pollution today is high!

Look a little bit like the situation in Norfolk, NY, very good catch.

great find...

I love upstate NY. My wife is from Cooperstown.

My kind of place, we almost had a piece of property at the west yard switch
at Lafayette.
Yvonne09-Feb-2009 01:26
Would be far too noisy for me too!

My office is about 4 times that far off and I still can imagine. I feel it and hear it these days!

Cool find. That is a bit close to the tracks.

Probably less than with the noise of huge diesel truck air braking all the time. We lived a few years near a rr track, it never bothered me.

A double-glazing salesman's dream :-)
