On Tuesday morning I spent some time near the Farm Deck, mostly photographing the Sandhill Cranes as they flew over the road toward the fields. Then a few geese, just 5 or 10 at first, landed in the field. A couple minutes later, there were 50 or 100 geese in the field. And a few minutes after that, the sky was filled with geese all converging on this one particular field, as shown here. The flock grew from no geese to thousands of geese in little more than 10 minutes.
