The Buffalo Memorial Auditorium was for nearly
70 years the venue for special events and home
of all the indoor sports played in Buffalo. I remember
it most for the Buffalo Bisons and then the Buffalo Sabres
hockey teams as well as a Beach Boys concert in 1966 and
the Garth Brooks concert in 2005(?). As a kid I attended
the Icecapades, Harlem Globtrotters Basketball, the
Ringling Bros Circus and various other events. It's
demolition is certainly a passing of an era in Buffalo
community events. The HSBC Arena has replaced the Aud
and there is talk of a Bass Pro retail superstore being
built in the place from which the Aud is being removed.
