Spotted Tody-Flycatcher

Todirostrum maculatum

Araguacema, Tocantins

This bird was seen in a wooded garden at Araguacema, on the right bank of the rio Araguaia. The species was not listed or mapped for Tocantins by Sick (1997) or Walther (2004), although Ridgely & Tudor (1994) mentioned occurrence in northern Goiás (but note, these authors did not "recognise" Tocantins, the most recently created state in Brazil). The species was found at many localities within the Parque Estadual do Cantão by Buzzetti (2004), and it is presumably reasonably common in forests in north-west Tocantins.
