Surprise

Acton, CA

I came around the corner and saw this: the most brilliant rainbow I've ever seen, even having lived in Oregon where they're commonplace.

Several people were stopped a little way down the road, photographing it with their cellphones. I'm glad I had slightly better optics for this.

No Photoshop saturation boost was used in the sky or rainbow. It really looked like this.

Canon EOS 50D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1/8000s f/4.0 at 21.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

That's really atypical for a rainbow; it appears to be a localized phenomenon, with such a wide radius. Excellent capture Paul, with the 50D remaining quiet at 400. Glad you caught it - g

That's impressive! I like how it is set as a gateway to the town.
