The Moon, with Mare Humorum (left) and Crater Gassendi, and Mare Numium (right) and Crater Bullialdus. Waxing gibbous on January 18, 2008, the Moon obliterated my nearby deep sky targets and instead became the target of my guidescope and camera.
DSI Pro through 8" LX90 at f8 (effective focal length 1600mm). No IR blocker, which was a questionable move, but this image was captured opportunistically using the guiding setup. Conditions: excellent tranparency and mediocre seeing. Exposures: 40 images at 0.0012 seconds. Stacked in Envisage, levels and curves in Photoshop, very light unsharp mask applied.
