Snowy Owl (Nyctea scandiaca)

Uitkerkse Polder, Blankenberge - Belgium

Sometimes I like to do some pure twitching. A very, very awful image, I know, due to long distances and very dark light ... See the spec: CROP: 60%, 500 + 1,4X, ISO 3200, f5.6, 1/20 sec !!! I can't did any better ... :-)
Thank you very much David Monticelli and Vincent LeGrand for this bird, DUSKY THRUSH (Erezée) and all your help, hospitality and ... friendship!!

Canon EOS-1D Mark III , EF L 500 f/4 IS USM + 1,4X
ISO 3200. f5.6, 1/20 sec full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

If I was lucky enough to see a Snowy Owl I wouldn't complain even if I could get no photo!

In spite of what you say, the composition is great, and it gives a good idea of the snowy in it's environment. Unfortunately, we can't always have perfect conditions. Well done.

Love the contrast with the environment.. His white color doesn't help him in this field... V

Good shot & good composition despite the conditions.

A closer approach might not have been good for the bird -your discretion in favour of the bird's welfare has to be greatly commended (many Photographers would not have been so disciplined!).

Great rarity shot, you can just continue up to Sweden for the Yellow-browed bunting ;)!
