Costa Rica was rather like Scarborough Faire in the fact that most of what we walked on was dirt paths. I was very glad that I had worn my old sneakers instead of the new ones I bought. While waiting in line for the zip line, the rain had spattered mud all the way up my pants. Walking in the banana plantation after the rain, my shoes kept collected mud. I could hear Lady Mary and her fear of mud crying inside of me. I don't think she would have shrugged it off as easily as I did.
