9 banded Armadillo

I had to "google" this little armored tank. I found to my surprise it is a mammal. I saw several on our trip to Aransas NWR, this was by far the largest specimen.

Excellent capture, John. I saw one of them at Merritt Island in Florida a couple of years ago and was impressed by the armor.

They are such strange little creatures. We rarely see these during the day but they do a lot of destruction at night.
