A Shocking Picture

Some of you were warned. I told you that I was returning to my PaD with a shocking picture. I have decided to post today because I am getting hounded from all angles. Facebook, Pbase, my phone, in person…..sheesh. Can’t a guy just drop off the face of the Earth for a bit? Sorry. I’ve been busy. Again. For real.

Tonight our new guys got tased. It is the equivalent of the Romans watching some poor guy get mauled by the lions. Word spreads quick and before you know it there is quite an audience. It’s not so much that we relish in another’s pain. That would be mean. We watch for the same reason you drive slow and stare at horrible car wrecks. You don’t wish ill will on anyone……but you have to look. You just can’t help it. This is like that. Me? I bring a camera because I enjoy it more than most. Good times.

I say most because you will notice Todd in the background. Even out of focus, you can see the smile. Without this picture we may have never noticed how much Todd enjoys this. When a guy gets tased, everyone watches his face. Nobody notices Todd. Now, while Todd might be smiling, he has the right to smile. Todd has been tased more than anyone I know. When he went to the instructor course they would wake you up in the morning by tasing you. Well, maybe not, but it was something like that. He got tased A LOT in those few weeks. He has earned the right to smile.

This isn’t the sharpest shot of the group…..tased people apparently fall faster than auto focus can focus, but I like it the best. It’s the only one that tells the whole story.

I am not sure what would have to happen in my life for me to agree to get tased again. It was the absolute longest few seconds of my life. Nothing has ever hurt that bad before. I’m telling you, if the cops point a taser at you and tell you to do something, do yourself a favor and do it. Quick. Just apologize for whatever it is they think you did and throw yourself on the ground.

“I’m sorry sir. I’m sorry. Please don’t do that again. I’m sorry. That fucking hurt. I’m sorry.” - Crackhead redneck that I tased after a pursuit who moments early told me he was going to kick my ass.

As a high school English teacher, I can think of several uses for a taser. Here they are actually considering the possibility of allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons - the taser sounds like a reasonable solution. But you're right - one can't help finding a sick pleasure in it.

Excellently documented Jim... voted!

I may be sick also but I would like to try this...bring your taser when you come to visit me....

As sick as it sounds, my curiosity is trying to get the best of me here.

If nothing else, it sure beats getting shot with a gun.

My city could use a few taser uses based on some of the senseless things going on with some bad folks. Maybe it would knock some sense into their empty heads! Welcome back Jim.

Glad to see you are back. Hubs has video of the guys getting tased, and he has scars left from when he was tased... serious business there. It's really funny, in a not so funny kind of way. Anyhoo...

There's a few people I know I would like to tase and get sheer pleasure out of it. I totally understand! LOL Welcome back and don't stay gone so long.

I wish I had one of those I could have used on my boss during a brief period of time.
Guest 08-Jan-2009 14:24
worth the wait. thanks.
btw- i know a few rednecks (crackheads or not) down here that could use a good tasing...

OK, so are those guys who are holding onto the "tasee" feeling any effects? I always thought it would be like getting struck by lightning or getting shocked by those CPR machines--you don't want to be touching them when the current hits.

Glad to see you back!

No thank you. I didn't like to be sprayed with OC and I am sure that I wouldn't like to be tased. There is no doubt in my mind that being tased would stop me from doing whatever it was that I was doing. There is no need to show me that it makes people stop.

So is this why there wasn't anybody on the road yesterday?

"Don't Taze me, Bro!! Don't Taze me!!"

freaking hilarious - what you wrote AND the smile on the guy holding the taser's face. I do understand that .. um.. bonding together of coworkers. We have it at the newspaper. We don't get to hurt anyone, we just get to set them up then watch in a group while they unwittingly humiliate themselves.

I have no idea why we aren't allowed to have tasers.. :)

I don't mind a little teasing...
...I'll pass on the tasing though.
:^O

Man, sometimes falling off the face of the earth for a couple weeks sounds fun...it's just too bad the Internet makes it impossible for many. And, I know, I was one of those that hounded you. But, you know what, I wouldn't have if you didn't encourage me to keep going.

Consider your tasing a badge of honor. I mean, how many others can say they've been tased and knows what it feels like? 1/100 of 1 percent? That's exclusive company.

And what's the deaths to tasing anyway? I wonder if any officer has been killed just trying that little "stun gun" out for a bit of a fancy ride.
