This is a 7 year old elephant seal bull. They can weigh
as much as 2.5 tons. The rough area on his neck is scar
tissue caused by fighting with other bulls for mating
rights. This bull has lost a lot of fights and will only
be able to mate by slipping into another bull’s harem
unnoticed when the alpha male is distracted. Such an
