Engine Startup
Sentimental Journey's engines are numbered 1 through 4, starting with the outboard engine on the left wing. Engine number 3 (inboard right wing) is usually started first because it includes the electrical generating system. The white smoke is from burning oil, which collected in the engine's combustion chambers during engine shut-down. Each engine has a remote 37-gallon oil tank that provided lubrication during long missions over hostile German Luftwaffe territory.
