I spent most of 2006 and 2007 attempting to capture a good shot of
a Least Bittern. On one visit to Ile Bizard with a friend, three of
them nearly knocked us down when we accidently flushed them from
nearby cattails. I received news of numerous sightings during the year, but
I was always a bridesmaid. After dozens of photos marred by bullrushes,
I finally got a fairly clear photo in September 2007. Patience finally
paid off in 2008. On two different occasions I was able to catch
bitterns during early morning feeding. The 2nd photo can be viewed
