Laysan Albatross
(Phoebastria immutabilis)

Not a great photo but a rare capture. Laysan Albatross is rarely seen in N. America.
But this one has been visiting Arena Cove (see map) near the town of Point Arena CA. for
several winters. I shot this on December 13, 2008. They have a wingspan of 7 feet.
They are nocturnal feeders and breed in the winter. Their breeding grounds are in
the Hawaiian Islands.
